I am all too aware that the website has not been updated as much as when Ian was in the driving seat! I'm still wearing my "p" plates but hope to improve as time goes on.
Much of course has been happening in the Revel since Chris and Ian's departure, much of it the regular routine of worship and social events. We have been greatly helped by the sterling efforts of Beth and George without whom it would have been extremely difficult to maintain the normal pattern of Church life. Our debt to them is enormous.
We now look forward eagerly to the licensing of our new priest in charge, Robert Ireton on September 6th. and we hear that he is just as eager to be among us.

St Edith's makes the national press

St Edith's Church at Monks Kirby has recently been featured in a national magazine

Country Way is about the best of Christian life and work in rural Britain.

It contains ideas and information; inspiration and good news; who is providing resources and where to find them; all written by and for country people.

Some countryside magazines seem to be written for urban people contemplating the rural dream. Country Way is about real people in the real countryside, and the inspiring Christian work that is going on there. It is useful, topical and a good read, complemented by beautiful photography of the British countryside.

Country Way contains stories from farming, the rural church, the environment and communities; as well as thoughts and reflections, and information on Christian resources and events.

Enjoy Country Way three times per year by subscribing for just £9.00

Daffodil Sunday 19th April 2009

Daffodil Sunday at Newnham Paddox was a great success with increased visitor numbers this year. The weather was warm and the sun was shining. The event was arranged by the Friends of the Revel Churches who support the upkeep of the church buildings. This year we anticipate the overall event to raise over £4,000. It was a real team effort by everyone involved.

Music on the day was by the Dunchurch Band and Don with his PA system. Children had lots to do including face & tile painting, clay modelling & donkey rides. Various stalls including those from several charities.

Daffodil Sunday next year will be on Sunday 11th April 2010, please book it in your diary.

Shrove Tuesday at Churchover

 Shrove Tuesday at Churchover

It has become a tradition at Churchover to hold an informal service in the village hall on the evening of Shrove Tuesday. The service led by the Rev'd Beth Smith was followed by pancakes cooked by Wendy Bussfield and her son Jeremy. Over £30 was raised at this event for Wateraid.

Thank you Tom

Thank you Tom

Following 25 years of faithful service at Holy Trinity Church in Churchover, Mr Tom Seekings played at his last service as the regular church organist. Tom has travelled countless miles, in all weathers, to be at Churchover for the services. He has also helped out at other churches in the Revel Group.

The Tom was presented with a DVD Recorder as a token of thanks from the Church. He also received a boquet of flowers on behalf of his wife.

Brinklow Bellringers Project update

It is now six months since we launched our project and we have progressed at a reasonable pace. We have managed to raise, through pledges and donations, about £14,000 towards our goal of £35,000, which is fantastic! This includes the generous donation of a bell in memory of Harry Windsor, a bellringer from Harbury near Southam. The bell will record this fact with an appropriate inscription. A big thank you to all those who have helped and encouraged us so far. Look out for events next year around the village that we will be organising!

Our band has also been busy during this last year. We have trained three new recruits and won the Rugby Deanery Striking competition for the first time! The cup stays in the Revel area for another year, as our fellow ringers at Monks Kirby have been dominant in the last decade.

If you are interested in what we do and would like to see what goes on then feel free to give us a visit. Either meet us on a Wednesday night (1930-2100 hrs) or before our Church services. Alternatively call Tim Wykes on 01788-832098.

A Big Thank You to Ray & Joan

A Big Thank You to Ray and Joan

Ray Tailby moved into Churchover in 1939 and in the years since then he has been very active in village life.

His work and worship at Holy Trinity Church has been an inspiration to many. With membership of the Parocial Church Council, and roles as Church Treasurer and Churchwarden being appreciated by all. It is however his years as a Lay Reader, taking many services and preaching that many will remember.

Ray and his wife Joan have now moved into a neighbouring village, but the local community could not let them go without showing their appreciation and affection. On Friday 5th November villagers, church members and friends filled the community centre to give gifts and wish them well.

Lots of people came along to St Edith's Church to meet Jill and make her feel welcomed by the Revel Community. Children from the Revel School took part in the service. We are please to have Jill with us and look forward to working with her in the future.
